"From our perspective as parents, we are very grateful for how well the school communicates with children. The Welcome packet and Equal Treatment Plan were clear and thoughtful, and we appreciate having direct access to teachers and staff. Everything has felt transparent, accessible, and easy to navigate, which makes a big difference."
Both kids had a wonderful first week! We already feel very welcomed and cared for, and we’re so happy we made the decision to join the school.
I asked Carissa and Christian to share their thoughts, and they both spoke very highly of their teachers and the staff. They feel that the staff is dedicated and attentive, which has really helped them settle in.
Carissa especially likes the structure of 50-minute lessons with breaks in between. She said it feels like just the right amount of time to stay focused and really absorb what’s being taught. Compared to the much longer class blocks she’s experienced before (such as 2.5-3 hour Math classes, for example), this rhythm works out much better for her. She did mention that since much of her learning feels very efficient and one-on-one, she could see herself enjoying either a slightly shorter school week or early release, which would give her some time to meet up with friends from her previous school for activities like library visits or sports. She also shared an idea from the American high school she attended last year. They have a concept where they alternate between “green” and “white” days with different subjects on each day. She said that system helped keep things varied and engaging.
Christian also had a great week. He mentioned liking his Math class, and he especially enjoyed spending time outside and playing football. He’s excited about his Computer Science class, but he also said he’d love a bit of an extra challenge. Last year, his class studied AI programming, and for his main project he coded an arcade game. He discovered that he really enjoys programming and would be eager for more opportunities like that. Outside of class, he’s also been studying computer hardware and wants to try building a PC. He also loves hands-on projects in Science and enjoys putting together slide presentations too.
Overall, we couldn’t be happier with how the first week has gone. We’re excited to be part of the founding families and are really looking forward to seeing the school grow in the months ahead.
