Extracurricular activities play a fundamental role in the educational journey of students in Year 1 and Year 2, offering numerous benefits beyond traditional classroom learning. Participation in these activities allows young learners to develop essential social skills, enhance their creativity, and build confidence in a structured yet enjoyable environment. 

Additionally, extracurricular programmes help students discover new interests and talents, nurturing personal growth and laying a strong foundation for their ongoing academic and social success.

Enrichment Programme 

 

The Art & Craft Club provides Year 1 and Year 2 students with opportunities to explore their creativity, improve fine motor skills, and express themselves artistically. Participation in the club fosters imagination, encourages concentration and patience, and supports social interaction with peers. The LEGO & Construction Club benefits Year 1 and Year 2 students by enhancing creativity, spatial awareness, and fine motor skills through hands-on building activities. Participation promotes problem-solving abilities, encourages teamwork, and develops communication skills as students collaborate on projects. This interactive environment also boosts confidence, patience, and concentration in young learners, enriching their overall educational experience.

 

The Storytelling & Puppet Theatre Club benefits Year 1 and Year 2 students by nurturing their imagination, language development, and expressive skills. Through engaging storytelling activities and interactive puppet play, students enhance listening abilities, vocabulary, and confidence in speaking. This creative club also supports emotional understanding, social interaction, and encourages young learners to express themselves clearly and creatively.  
 
The Beginner Coding Club benefits Year 1 and Year 2 students by introducing them to foundational coding concepts in a fun and interactive way. Participation enhances logical thinking, problem-solving abilities, and creativity. Through playful activities and guided projects, students develop early computational skills, boost their confidence with technology, and build a strong foundation for future digital learning.  

 

The Dance & Movement club benefits Year 1 and Year 2 students by promoting physical coordination, balance, and overall fitness in a fun, engaging environment. Participation enhances creativity, rhythm, and self-expression, while also improving focus and concentration. Through dance, students build self-confidence, social skills, and teamwork, contributing positively to their personal and social development.  

 

The Choir/Singing Club benefits Year 1 and Year 2 students by nurturing their musical abilities, language development, and vocal expression. Participation boosts confidence, improves listening skills, and enhances concentration. Singing in a group fosters teamwork, social interaction, and a sense of community, contributing positively to their overall emotional and social growth  

 

The Nature Club benefits Year 1 and Year 2 students by encouraging curiosity, exploration, and respect for the natural world. Participation helps young learners develop observational skills, environmental awareness, and a sense of responsibility toward nature. Engaging in outdoor activities promotes physical well-being, stimulates scientific thinking, and fosters teamwork and social interaction, contributing to their holistic development.  

 

The Yoga for Kids club benefits Year 1 and Year 2 students by enhancing their physical health, flexibility, balance, and coordination. Participation in yoga encourages relaxation, mindfulness, and emotional regulation, helping young learners manage stress and improve concentration. The practice promotes self-awareness, confidence, and positive social interactions, contributing to their overall physical, emotional, and mental well-being.  

 

The Board Games & Puzzles club benefits Year 1 and Year 2 students by promoting critical thinking, problem-solving skills, and strategic reasoning in an engaging, playful environment. Participation enhances concentration, patience, and perseverance, while also fostering social skills, teamwork, and positive interactions among peers. These activities support cognitive growth, boost confidence, and provide enjoyable learning experiences outside the classroom

The Drama & Improv Club benefits Year 1 and Year 2 students by developing their creativity, self-expression, and confidence in a supportive, playful environment. Participation enhances communication skills, emotional intelligence, and social interaction, encouraging students to collaborate and express ideas freely. Inspiring Beginnings: Swedish Lesson Marks the Start of a Bright Academic Year at UIS! Our first Swedish lesson of the year has set the stage for an inspiring journey ahead. With the guidance of our qualified and passionate Swedish teacher, students explored the language through fun, interactive learning — showing creativity, confidence, and a strong eagerness to learn. But that’s not all — our Swedish classrooms across grades have been buzzing with creativity and joy: 🎨 Grades 1 & 2 – Students colored, imagined, and shared stories about “Who lives in the house?”.
